January 23, 1948 ~ October 22, 2016

Gary Lemuel Boatright passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from complications resulting from a heart attack suffered days before. Gary entered this world on January 23, 1948, and quickly became the pride and joy of his parents, Joel Lemuel and Beulah Hanney Boatright. After graduating from Bonneville High School, Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force were he obtained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, serving in England and New Mexico. He continued to serve his country for many more years as member of the USAF reserves.

Following a short courtship, Gary married the love of his life, Cheri White, on August 26, 1970. A year later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following his military service Gary's career path kept him in the service of the U.S. Government working in a number of different positions and locations, most notably Hill Air Force Base and Thiokol.

Gary and Cheri raised two sons, Gary Jr. and Samuel. With his boys, Gary participated in the scouting program, special needs mutual, and Special Olympics. Gary and his boys also took in the occasional air show, Utah Jazz game, and local coin collectors show.

Although the heartbreak left by the death of their son, Samuel in 1995 could never fully heal, the addition of a daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters, who quickly became his pride and joy, gave new purpose and meaning to Gary's and Cheri's lives.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cheri; son, Gary Jr.; and daughter-in- law, Lori; and his granddaughters: Makenzie, Brinley, and Kylee. He is also survived by his little sister, Janice Androes; and her husband Kerri; and a number of other family members. Welcoming him to the other side were his parents; his son, Samuel; his siblings: Junior Boatright and Eula Biddulph; and many other family members and friends.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff of the McKay-Dee Hospital ICU unit, with special thanks to Mike, Chase, and Jameson.
